Surf to Snow assisted as subconsultant supporting the Delta Stewardship Council as a subconsultant to prepare a geospatial database of assets and resources to be assessed in the Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment (CCVA). This study aims to assess potential flood exposure of assets and resources in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta to future climate change hazards. Surf to Snow GIS Analysts collaborated with the client to review, categorize, and update a comprehensive geodatabase of all relevant assets and resources for this climate change study.

Surf to Snow conducted a comprehensive geospatial data review of an existing database (including relevant boundaries, critical infrastructure, and resources of water, ecosystems, and land use in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta) in order to determine the relevance of data layers for the climate change study as well as identify the areas where new data had to be obtained. This included cross-checking all data layers with county and state GIS data, conducting research to determine that the most accurate source was implemented, data manipulation, and communications with county GIS teams to acquire necessary layers. Surf to Snow participated in conversations with the Prime and the Delta Stewardship Council to identify data needs in order to best support the study and was responsible for creating a comprehensive geodatabase that would be ready for implementation in a flood hazard analysis.
