Surf to Snow conducted restoration efforts along approximately 150 feet of stream
bank for Green Valley Creek in Fairfield, CA. The stream bank was eroded when a
water line adjacent to the Green Valley Creek was ruptured and approximately
1,000,000 gallons of water were released. Surf to Snow led the effort to survey
the project area, design a robust and permanent fix, obtain all required
regulatory permits, and complete restoration construction along the creek.
The Surf to Snow team completed a topographic survey of the project area to support
the design and flow modeling to ensure the restoration would withstand 100-year
flow events. The survey captured the necessary channel geometry including the
top and toe of bank, channel thalweg and bed area, and the surrounding
floodplain and landscape topography. The Surf to Snow team developed the design and
permit packages to obtain project approval from the California Department of
Fish and Wildlife, US Army Corps of Engineers, and State Waterboard to
construct the restoration project. Surf to Snow conducted project compliance
monitoring and provided periodic monitoring reports as well as a final
post-construction report to the regulatory agencies.
